Depop Online Thrift Store Review!

Updated: Nov 24, 2020

Hey guys! Welcome back to another blog post on The Lifestyle Mile! Today I am so excited to share my experience with a very well known online thrift store! Today I will share the ups and downs from thrifting and ordering items from Depop! I am super excited to share this with you so let's jump right into it!

DISCLAIMER: This is no way a paid promotion or sponsorship. This is a review and information on my experience only. Enjoy!!

If you have not heard about Depop, here is a little bit about it. “Depop is the fashion marketplace app where the next generation comes to discover unique items. With a global community buying, selling, and connecting to make fashion more inclusive, diverse, and less wasteful.” (quote from website) Depop is an online thrift store where you can find a large variety of different clothing items and accessories. This is a platform where young and new entrepreneurs can sell their used clothing items for money. This is an eco-friendly way of buying and selling clothes.

To start shopping on Depop, you get prompted to select a few styles and outfits that you like and would wear (you do have to create an account in order to purchase items). Then it displays different shops that sell clothing pieces that fit your style! This is a quick and efficient way of finding clothing that you like, instead of scrolling through clothing items for hours and hours on end.

If you are looking for a certain select item, don’t worry, all you have to do is go under the search bar and type in the exact item you want. (jacket, skirt, brand, shoes, etc.) After you hit search, many items that relate to your search pop up and you can begin shopping! But it gets better! On the bottom of each page, there is a filter option. This allows you to set a certain brand, size, category, and price. Easy right? New items are posted frequently as well!

Depop is a super-easy way to support small business owners/young entrepreneurs looking to start making money and growing a business! You can even create your own personal shop as well! All you have to do is sign up and create an account, then link your payment options, etc, and then you can begin selling your items. In my opinion, this app is super user friendly and creates so many opportunities for people to make money!

Now I am going to share with you a little bit about my experience buying clothing items... pros AND cons! I began by searching Brandy Melville because it is my favorite shopping brand and so many items popped up! I set filters to eliminate a lot of items that I would waste time looking at. Once I found my items, I simply clicked the yellow icon that said “buy” and they were immediately added to my cart! When I was finished online thrifting, I began my checkout process. Again, this app is extremely user friendly so I didn’t have any trouble navigating my way throughout the site (I was a new user and this was my first time buying). Depop allows you to pay with different paying options so that is for sure a positive! One negative I would like to point out is that unless you shop and pick out all of your items from one seller, you do have to check out individually and pay a shipping fee for each individual seller. Usually, the shipping cost is not too expensive. I began by paying each individual seller and then now all I had to do was wait for my items to arrive! My experience with each of my sellers was perfect! They each messaged me personally through the app, and shipped out my items really fast! I got all of my pieces within that week and I was so excited! Everything came in perfect shape and exactly what the description said! A huge tip I would give is that you have to check their reviews before you buy to ensure that you aren’t paying somebody who is not trustworthy! Before checking out and paying, do your research!! All sellers are different and you may have different experiences!

In conclusion, based on my wonderful experience, I would HIGHLY recommend you shop on Depop!! This is a wonderful way to help the environment and eliminate fast fashion!! Reselling clothes is environmentally friendly and you get a reduced price since this is a thrifting site!

Thank you guys so much for tuning in to this week's post! I hope you enjoyed it and if you try out Depop, make sure to let me know about your experience! Don’t forget to like this post and leave a comment on what you want to see next!
