Here Are What Workout Abbreviations Really Mean (A Rookie’s Guide For Gym Lingo)

Hey everyone! Welcome back to another mile here on The Lifestyle Mile blog page! Today I will be sharing some common abbreviations/phrases you may hear in the gym as well as what they mean! Let’s get right into it — enjoy!

 

REP = Repetitions

SET = Number of repetitions

AMRAP = As many reps as possible

WOD = Workout of the day

RM = One rep max

HIIT = High intensity training

DL = Deadlift

PR = Personal record

DB = Dumbbell

SS = Superset

BB = Barbell

BP = Benchpress

BS = Back squat

FS= Front squat

RDL = Romanian dealift

Pull Day = Back and Biceps

ROM = Range of motion

Push day = Chest

EMOM = Every minute on the minute
